Chapter 42 of Tease!

A/N: Haha! What a chapter, eh?! I like to think that I did good! So, I have an idea as to how long we’re going here…so we’re gonna get right into it! Shall we?!

Chapter 42

CPOV

After a raucous session of love making with my husband, we realized we had to get back to the real world. There wasn’t anywhere else I wanted to be at that moment, but I had to prepare for the book tour, and Darren had a ton of stuff to prepare for. We knew Mia was flying in to go to the doctor’s to get all of her tests done for her egg retrieval. It was going to take awhile before anything could happen. She had a lot of tests to do, then hormones, and then the retrieval process.

“Babe?!”

“Yeah hon!”

I yelled back. He had limped downstairs to get us something to eat and feed Piper. He’d yelled up at me from the stairs, and I knew something was wrong. I walked away from my emails and headed toward the top of the stairs.

“Honey, your mom’s on the phone. She said it’s kind of important?”

I dashed down the stairs. The first thing I was worried about was Hannah. I made my way downstairs and saw a reverend sitting in a chair by the window in our kitchen. I looked at Darren.

“Babe, why is there a man of God in our house?”

“I invited him. And besides, it isn’t just a man of God. That’s Reverend Schaffer, from down the hall. I think it’s high time we gave the Criss’s, the Colfer’s, most of Team StarKid, and the Glee family what they want. Our beach wedding. We have a few days off coming up, and I figured it would be easy. We did need a reverend, right?”

I nodded. Though I wasn’t too keen on how he got me out of bed. But I’d punish him again later. I joined him at the table, and we discussed plans. We agreed that we’d settle for the end of this week. It was going to be a little hard to pull together what I wanted, but I’d find a way. Reverend Schaffer left some time later, and we got on the phone and called our families. We called the Criss’s first, and I held Darren’s hand.

“Hello?”

“Mama?”

“Darren, darling.”

“And Chris too, Mama.”

I heard Cerina squeal. She loved hearing from both of us at the same time. When we got to be on the same phone call, it was always an adventure.

“To what do I owe the pleasure of Chris and Darren calling?”

“Well Mama, you see. Darren and I realized that we owed you a wedding. And we’re trying to give everyone one. So, Friday…in San Francisco…on Ocean Beach.”

We heard a scream. It was a happy scream, and I knew. She was going to be there, and we’d make sure of it. She was crying by this point, and we needed to end the conversation quick, before she started saying how much she loved us together and all that stuff, so we promised to shoot her details and then continued making calls. Most of the Glee cast would be there, as would a majority of Team StarKid that supported us. We also invited Mia and Delilah who assured us that they would both be there. After we made those calls, I made one of my own. To my friend Leslie who owned an invitation store. I told her what I wanted.

“You know the pattern, Les. The one with the spirals. Yep, that’s the one. I want it to say this. ‘Christopher Paul Colfer and Darren Everett Criss cordially invite you to take part in their love. Friday June 8th at seven p.m.’ And then provide the address to the new place. That’s right. Have it faxed to me, and I’ll approve the final.”

I said hanging up. I walked into the living room and noticed Darren was still on the phone. It sounded like he was talking to someone about music. If he knew anything, he knew music. I waited for him to get off the phone and I smiled when he did. He pulled me over to him and we cuddled on the sofa.

“So, Chris, I was thinking…I wanted to take your name. I mean, I have. Personally on most of my documents, I’m Darren Criss-Colfer. Professionally, I’m keeping my name as-is. But I want the world to know I’m yours.”

“That’s funny. I thought the same thing about you. You see, when I went to my lawyer’s office, I changed my name too. So, I am officially Chris Colfer-Criss. Keeping my name professionally of course.”

He kissed me softly. It was going to be hell for the baby, but we’d work it out, I’m sure. I heard the fax machine go off a little while later, and knew that had to be Leslie with the wedding invitations. And sure enough, it was. I smiled at the invites and took them out to Darren.

“Babe! I called Leslie, and asked her if she could put together some invitations for us. I actually went ahead and picked one! It’s beautiful! Come look!”

I said, waiting for Darren to come into the office. I heard the padding of feet coming down the hall and smiled when he poked his head through the door. Even when he was wearing jean shorts and no t-shirt, he still did things to me. He made his way into the office further, and looked at me. I handed him the paper and watched as his eyes lit up. He looked up at me and smiled.

“Honey, it’s wonderful. I love it! Go ahead with it!”

“You sure?”

“Yes. Now do it.”

I nodded and smiled. We were going ahead with plans for our wedding. I smiled as I looked down at the words on the page, and realized that I couldn’t be any more happier with this man than I was.

“Christopher Paul Colfer and Darren Everett Criss cordially invite you to join in their love. Friday June 8, 2012. 6pm. Ocean Beach, San Francisco, California. 94121.”

I went ahead with everything that had been written and went ahead and had them published. I walked back into the living room and looked at Darren. He had a pen and a piece of paper in his hand.

“Hon, what are you doing?”

“Making a list of who we want to be there. Obviously our families. But then there’s the friends list. I definitely want Theo and Mia, Brian Rosenthal and his girlfriend Emily, Lauren and Nick, Meredith, Brian Holden and his girlfriend, Walker, Joey and Deeds, Bonnie and her fiancée. Lea and Cory, Kevin, Grant, Jenna, Matt, Harry, Chord, Di, Naya and Matt.”

I looked at him and looked at the list. So much for keeping it small. He was inviting everyone and their brother. I sighed and looked at him.

“Baby, I think it should just be like this. The people we’re closest to. Cerina, Chuck, Chuck and Lucy, Karyn, Tim and Hannah, Theo, Mia, Rosenthal and Em, Lauren and Nick, Meredith, Holden and Kacey, Walker, Joey and Deeds. Di, Matt and Grant.”

“You don’t want Lea and Cory?”

“Of course I do baby, in the wedding. I also need a wedding party. I was thinking Lea, Mia and Delilah for me and Joey, Kevin and Grant for you.”

I was a natural at this wedding planning business, and if I needed work after Glee if the novel and screenwriting thing didn’t work out, I knew where to turn. I saw him pondering the wedding party thing, and then he smiled.

“Yes. Okay, I think we should ask them together. Here. At the house. Do me a favor, call Lea, Mia and Delilah. Especially the last two, because they will be more intertwined in our life than anyone. I’ll call Joey, Kevin and Grant and invite them over.”

I went and grabbed my phone and smiled. Within twenty minutes, everyone was where they needed to be. Darren and I smiled as the six of them sat in front of us. We held hands, and Darren began speaking.

“Thank you guys for being here. Chris and I asked you here today because we have a very important question for you. A question that could make you laugh, cry or just squeal in delight. I’m going to go first. Grant Gustin, Kevin McHale and Joey Richter. We’ve asked you here today to ask if you’ll be in our wedding party.”

The three boys in front of us nodded happily and that’s when we knew. We knew that asking these six people to share our special day with us was the right thing. I smiled and turned to the three ladies in front of me, knowing it was my turn.

“Lea, Mia and Delilah. We are all connected in some way. Especially Mia and Delilah. What I’m asking from you three wonderful young ladies is if you’ll be in our wedding as well.”

I watched the expressions on their faces. Mia wiped away a tear, Delilah looked shocked and Lea was bouncing with excitement. I knew their answers. All three of them nodded at the same time, and I smiled. This was turning out better than I’d hoped. Darren and I celebrated with our wedding party, pulling both Lea and Joey aside privately asking them if they’d be our Best Man and Maid of Honor, which they gratefully accepted. Darren and I smiled as our party dispelled a little while later. Darren and I went our separate ways a little after that, calling our parents and confirming the time, location and date of the wedding. They’d promised to be there, and I smiled. I looked around the tiny office I had, and knew it had to be straightened up. I had so many pictures of Darren and I laying around, I figured now it was time to put them in frames and whatnot and put them around the apartment. I turned on the radio and started singing, not really aware of what was on, until I listened to the lyrics. And I was done, because it was a beautiful song.

DPOV

Chris and I had separate offices. Mostly because he liked things a little more controlled and organized, where I was slightly messy. It was easier that way, but my office was a mess. There was sheet music everywhere, and liner notes for my album, which needed to be done, and AVPT stuff. But what had distracted me, was the voice I’d heard on the other side of the wall and it was singing. I always stopped what I was doing when Chris was singing. I couldn’t help it. I loved his voice. Hell, I adored him, but he didn’t need to know that. I walked out of my office and over to Chris’s and listened to him sing. The song had restarted, and I gasped. It was a beautiful song and I smiled. I walked into the office further and wrapped my arms around his waist, singing with him as we danced.

“I still get lost, caught in a daze
Tongue tied just like the very first day
I saw you and I’m so amazed
Cause the look that got me twisted still hasn’t changed
Your sexy eyes never lie
Baby I lose myself (when they open)
Boy, forget about goin’ out
Baby, I’d rather not (so I’m hoping)”

Chris turned around to look at me, and he was holding a picture. It was a picture of he and I from our first date. We were in one of those cheesy photo booths and he’d kissed my temple, and I knew. We’d had several different pictures in that one, but one in particular stood out. We were looking at each other. Straight in each other’s eyes, and we’d known, even then just how much we meant to one another. The next line of the song was mine, and I couldn’t wait to sing it in Chris’s ear. And I did.

“I can just stare at you forever (oh baby)
I can be here with you, doing whatever (my lady)
It’s not the way you look that brings me to my knees
It’s the way you look at me
I could just stare at you forever
If forever you were staring at me.”

And I led him to the bedroom, where we didn’t come out for awhile. When we did, we went back to separate offices to clean. Chris poked his head into the office awhile later and smiled.

“Babe, you hungry? I put dinner on.”

“Good. I’m famished. Cleaning does that to me.”

“No, sex with your husband does that to you. Now, I have chicken on, so it’ll be ready in about an hour.”

“Okay love, I’ll be down in a little bit.”

I said, watching him nod and walk out. I smiled. I was ordering him a gift for our wedding. I knew he didn’t need anything. He didn’t want anything, but I was giving him something anyway. I picked up the phone on my desk and dialed the number on the website.

“Tiffany & Co. Janie speaking.”

“Hi Janie, I’m interested in a gift for my husband…”

I said, knowing that when he saw the bracelet, he’d probably lose his mind. But I didn’t care. I wanted him to have this, and I was buying one for myself too. I wanted something matching besides our wedding bands, and I figured this would work wonders. After being guaranteed that I’d have it by Friday, I got up and headed into the kitchen. It was dinner time, and time with my man was important.

CPOV

The week kind of went by in a daze. Darren had work to do that was StarKid related, and I caught up on some stuff with my novel and the movie. Finally, Friday was upon us. Darren and I had left separately for San Francisco. He’d left late last night, and I was leaving early this morning. Lea and Mia accompanied me to San Francisco. Delilah had to finish her shift first, and assured us she’d be there by the time the wedding came around. I smiled as we all arrived in San Francisco. Mia had been given hormone shots and Lea looked at her.

“She’s our egg donor.”

I explained. Lea nodded and things were going right. I was reaffirming my love for my husband for the third and final time, this time in front of our friends and family. We were having a baby, everything  was just…amazing. There was a knock at the door and I walked over to answer it. There was a delivery person on the other side, and I was slightly confused.

“Mr. Colfer?”

“Yes?”

“A delivery for you, sir.”

He said, handing me a blue box. I tipped the delivery guy and stared at the box. Lea and Mia looked at me and smiled. They knew. I could tell. Lea never did mischievous well, and Mia just looked guilty. I opened the box and saw a bracelet. It matched my wedding band, and I gasped. I lifted it out of the box and flipped it over, reading the inscription on the back.

“Forever. Always yours, Prince Charming.”

I chuckled softly, and slid the bracelet on my wrist. I grinned, because I knew that Darren was getting the same thing, only the inscription read differently. Mia was examining my face and she giggled.

“Great minds think alike, huh Chris?”

“What?”

“You got Darren the same thing, didn’t you?”

“Yes…I did. Only the inscription is different.”

I said, smiling. I knew what it said, and it meant more to me and Darren, than anyone knew. I finished getting ready and looked in the mirror. The white shirt, and black jeans, boots were simple enough for the wedding. The girls were wearing blue sundresses with yellow sashes. It was a shout out to Darren’s college, the University of Michigan. I smiled as the door opened, and Delilah walked in. The wedding party was now complete, and I grinned at everyone.

“Alright ladies, take your places…it’s showtime.”

I said, kissing all three of them and watching them walk out. I took my place behind them and watched as they made their way down the aisle. I was looking at one thing, and that was Darren. He looked amazing in dark navy jeans and a white shirt and boots. Then the music hit. It was delightful. We didn’t really have a song, but when we were picking out songs, this one hit home. It was something we knew was emotionally moving for us, and it was the perfect choice. Matthew Morrison was singing it for us, and that made it much more sentimental. He started it as I made my way down the aisle, seeing nothing but Darren.

“I had all but given up on finding
The one that I could fall into
On the day before you
I was ready to settle for
Less than love and not much more
There was no such thing as a dream come true
Oh, but that was all the day before you

Now you’re here and everything’s changing
Suddenly life means so much
I can’t wait to wake up tomorrow
And find out this promise is true
I will never have to go back to
The day before you.”

I nodded at Matt in thanks and he smiled at us, and Darren took my hand as I got to the end of the altar. Reverend Schaffer was there and he grinned at us. And it was showtime.

“Dearly beloved. We are gathered here on this beach today to witness the ceremony between Christopher and Darren. This is not a wedding insofar as a recommitment ceremony for their friends and family. I’m honored they chose me to do this for them. When I met Darren and Christopher six months ago, I could see the love they had for each other. When Darren asked me to do this for them, I automatically said yes. We’re doing things a little different, though. The boys want to speak to you guys as their friends and family. So I’m going to let Darren go first, Darren?”

“Thank you Reverend Schaffer. Friends, family. Thank you for being here. April 25, 2010 was the day that changed my life forever. It was the day I met my soul mate, my lover, my best friend. Christopher is my entire life. He’s my forever. And we’re gathered here today to share our love with you. Snow White, my beautiful, beautiful Snow White. I promise you right now in front of our family and friends to never let you fall. To hold you while you cry, and never walk away angry. You’re all I’ve ever wanted in a mate, and I’m honored, blessed and amazed that you chose me.”

I sniffed and went to lift my hand, but Darren had beaten me to the punch. He wiped away the tears that were now falling. He slipped the ring on my finger, kissing my hand softly, and everything I’d written for today had made perfect sense to me now. I smiled and spoke up.

“I guess it’s my turn. April 25, 2010. I didn’t know just how miraculous that day would be. But then you walked into my life, and it felt like everything was right. It brought us here. Friday June 8, 2012. It also brought us to April 28, 2012. When we stood as we are right now, and professed our love for each other. Prince Charming, thank you for loving me as you do. Thank you for being amazing, understanding, kind, patient, and most importantly, loving. This journey wouldn’t be complete without you. I love you, so much.”

I said, sliding the ring on Darren’s finger. I wiped away the tears that were finding their way down Darren’s cheek. Reverend Schaffer smiled, and continued on.

“There’s nothing left to say but by the power vested in me by the great state of California, I now pronounce you husbands. You may now, kiss.”

He said. I pulled Darren to me, kissing him. Our family and friends in attendance made it better. I pulled away from him and smiled, whispering in his ear. I whispered the inscription on his bracelet.

“My life, my love. My forever. Always yours, Snow White.”

He nodded, and walked us up the aisle. Our lives were changing, and it was all for the positive, and we couldn’t wait to celebrate it with our family and friends.
