Okay babies…here it is! I just came up with this on the fly…
A/N: Thanks to my friend on Twitter, Mindy for helping me come up with this. So, we were talking about how Darren just needs to break free of his hold that Mia and his PR people have on him, and this is where the idea came from. It just…snowballed.
“I’m so over this!”
Darren Criss yelled, throwing his iPhone on the table. His boyfriend of close to two years, Chris Colfer was sitting in front of him, in between his legs, when Darren had his outburst. Chris knew it was difficult for Darren to not be public with him, and Darren had confessed to him several times that he was so close to just throwing caution to the wind, and going public, but he couldn’t. Michael had always threatened his career.
“What now?”
“Twitter’s all a tizzy because Mia’s going to the Breaking Dawn premiere. Rumor has it she’s going with me. I’m not even going to the Breaking Dawn premiere, Chris! And if I were, it’d be on your arm. Fuck this shit, I’m so fucking done.”
Darren said, reaching for his cell phone. He needed to put a stop to this, now. It was over. He was so fucking done, but before Chris could stop him, Darren was dialing the number. Chris could see how ripped up Darren was about having to hide their relationship. He was too. He knew that Darren was ready. The interview in Canada told Chris that. He listened and waited for Darren to start talking.
“Michael, it’s Darren. I’m so fucking done, do you hear me. This is what I’m going to do. I’m calling People magazine, and I’m setting up an interview. About what? About how I’m so fucking in love with Christopher that I can’t focus, that’s what. And then I’m going on Ellen. And I’m going to do this. Why? Why? Because I’m done hiding, Michael, that’s why! I’m slowly losing Chris because of this, and I’m not sacrificing my relationship for my career!”
Darren said, ending the call. He turned to look at Chris and saw the love that was there. Chris was so proud of Darren for taking charge of their relationship. But Chris knew that Darren had fibbed to Michael about the whole ‘slowly losing Chris’ part. Chris watched as Darren made a phone call to his friend at People magazine, meanwhile, Chris was on the phone with his friend at ‘Ellen’. Chris watched as Darren hung up with his friend and smiled at him as he ended his call with his friend on Ellen.
“Who was that?”
“I called Lacey. She’s the talent scheduler at Ellen. She can fit us in at the taping tomorrow.”
“Which is good, because Heather and Lora are coming over in an hour to interview me. Chris, honey. I love you. You know that, and if I were you, I’d be on the phone to Alla right now telling her what’s going on. We’re going to do this, and there’s no turning back from it.”
Chris looked at the older man and pulled him in for a kiss. It was what Darren needed. He answered a knock at Chris’s trailer door and smiled when he’d seen Lora and Heather. They had cameras and notebooks and tape recorders. Chris moved himself away from the crowd and talked to Alla on the phone. Darren hugged Heather and Lora and invited them in. Chris was having an intense conversation with Alla on the phone, and it sounded ugly. He heard Chris end the call with …”this is fucking ridiculous. We’re going through it, and that’s it.”
“So, Darren. What’s the big issue? You said that you were calling us to break some huge news?”
Chris sat down on the sofa next to Darren and Lora readied her tape recorder. Darren looked at Chris and smiled warmly at him. Lora pushed play and identified herself. And then she turned to Darren and smiled.
“So…Darren, you called me and asked me here to interview you because you have something to say…care to clarify that?”

“Please welcome my next two guests, Darren Criss and Chris Colfer!”
Darren and Chris knew that this was going to throw people off. The People magazine cover story was set to run Friday, and they knew they needed to back up this story. So, they made their way out to Ellen’s set, holding hands. The crowd was going nuts, as Chris kissed Ellen first, then sat down on the stage.
“So boys, welcome to the show. I have to admit, I am a little confused as to why you’re here. When Lacey said you had something you wanted to say, I immediately agreed. But judging by your positioning with each other, I have an idea. So Darren, the floor is yours.”
“First of all, thank you so much for having us. We appreciate this more than you know. We’ve already contacted People magazine, and had a very in-depth conversation with them, but now we’re here with you, and we’re here to tell you that Chris and I are a couple. And have been for two years now. And we’re living together, and we don’t care who knows.”
And with that, Darren felt more at peace than he did in awhile. And he was happy…this was what he’d wanted.
